🍮 Om Ali
Om Ali is a traditional Egyptian dessert made with bread, milk, cream, and sugar, often served warm and topped with nuts and syrup. It's a delightful comfort food perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 500 grams stale bread
- 750 millilitres whole milk
- 250 millilitres heavy cream
- 150 grams sugar
- 50 grams butter
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 50 grams blanched almonds
- 50 grams pistachios
- 50 millilitres honey or syrup
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a large bowl, combine the stale bread cubes, whole milk, heavy cream, sugar, butter, and cinnamon. Mix well until the bread is fully soaked.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish. Top with sliced almonds and chopped pistachios.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the mixture is bubbly.
- Drizzle with honey or syrup before serving.
