What Kind of Cookware Should I Buy
So it is time to get a new set of cookware for the kitchen. Presumably, you probably don’t have a lot of experience in the different kinds out there or else the question wouldn’t have been asked. This article will guide you through some of the important decisions that need to be made when considering buying a cooking set.
Types of Cookware
The type of cookware you get is very important to consider as there are many. One of the more common would probably be stainless steel. This material is easy to clean and has the least amount of care associated with it. They also resist damage and wear & tear from everyday use. Stainless-steel doesn’t have nonstick properties and can be a poor conductor of heat without the use of another metal.
Cast iron is a type of cookware that dates before some of the more technological breakthroughs in cooking. It is by far the best for conducting heat and is oven safe. The only problem with it would be the need to for cast iron to be “seasoned” in order to properly cook. Anodized aluminum is another common type. It helps brown foods and has a little bit of non-stick qualities.
Non-stick has the least amount of clean up but it does take a great deal of care. The non-stick surface can easily be scrapped off with metallic utensils.
Importance of Quality
Quality of cookware is extremely important, particularly because you’ll likely be using it often and your food should take great care. There is a good amount of difference between the low-end, cheap cookware and the more top of the line stuff. If being able to cook your food evenly, lasting ability, and overall cooking ability are a concern of yours then I suggest that you invest a good little bit into your cookware set. It is something that will be used everyday after all.
Cookware Brands
There are a number of cookware brand names out there and you should at least have some familiarity with them. If your taking my advice and getting some of the better quality cookware then you should be looking at companies like KitchenAid, Calphalon, All-Clad, Faberware, Le Creuset, Circulon, and Viking. These are some of the higher end brands of cookware to consider for purchase.
So those are some things to mull over when considering what kind of cookware to buy. If you’re looking to get high quality at a low price than you can always try online auction sites or local discount stores. Either way, I highly recommend that you get a nice set of cooking pots and pans to use because of the mileage they’ll receive.
