Classico Marinara Sauce Review and Coupon Info

Shopping at Winco the other day, I noticed a brand of pasta sauce I’d never seen before. I’m always interesting in finding quality jarred store bought pasta sauces so I figured I’d go ahead and give Classico Tomato and Basil red pasta sauce a try. Let’s just say it’s some good stuff. While I wouldn’t put it ahead of Alessi’s spaghetti sauce, Classico has a more natural taste compared to other company’s sauces. You can truly taste the ingredients, which is always a plus in my book.

Like Alessi, Classico also appears to be very heart healthy with less than 310mg of sodium or salt in a single serving. Now it doesn’t have the same vitamin content, but it is made of fresh tomatoes so getting 10% of your daily value in most of the primary nutrients isn’t a bad thing. It’s also around $3.50 and $4 at most store from what I can tell. It could be more depending on where you live.

For the price, I’d say you could do much worse than buying some of Classico’s marainara sauces. The one complaint I’d say against it would be the use of a “tomato puree,” or in other words water and tomato paste. If you didn’t know by already, tomato paste is typically the cheaper alternative to using fresh tomatoes in most commercial products and homemade recipes. While Classico does hide this fact well with their seasoning, it definitively keeps it from being the best jarred pasta sauce on store shelves.

One last thing to finish up, it appears that Classico is giving away a free printable coupons for their sauces. You can save a dollar when you purchase any two jars of their pasta sauces at your favorite grocery store. While it’s not going to break the bank, a free dollar certainly is nice incentive to try it out if you’re skeptical. If you’re interested you can find out more at Classico’s website.
